Where is Everyone?

Postby llamafarmer on Wed Nov 14, 2007 7:23 am

The forum has been rather quite lately. I am presuming everyone is very busy with musical events and the older students are doing very important exams.
It is my sincere hope that all is well with everyone and that we will see more discussions and information on the site very soon.

I really think it is just that everyone is so busy - even Spitvalve is pretty quiet. (Other than the political discussion. )

Ive noticed that too.

But as the big championships get closer, it tends to get a bit busier

What we need is more people starting topics!!!

How's this for a topic. What do you do to a Band (name better not be told) which lets down an organiser of an event only 4 weeks before the gig? It has happened to me today and I am not impressed. [b]IN FACT I AM PANICKING!!!!!

LOL. I got one to top that.

We had been all set to do a gig in a neighbouring town last nite. Band of 40, plus a choir of 60 were organised.

Apparently the other town people cancelled 2 weeks ago, and didnt bother to tell us until monday. Trying to get in touch with everybody in such a short space of time is hard yakka!!!

Maybe you can advertise on the site for a band to fill in the slot?

Golly Ben - how slack are those organisers!!! A Band and a Choir would be absolutely wonderful. Wish we were closer, we would grab you.
Have emailed my son re his concert band - will give him a chance first and may well advertise for help. Great suggestion.

Where is everyone???

Postby BrianC on Thu Nov 15, 2007 6:59 pm

I know I've quickly settled into lurker mode.... but in my defense I do have a 5 month old competing for my time! (plus I was the one still standing when the music stopped and found out I was President of our Band Committee! j/k!)

I do know in the leadup to Christmas we are definately getting busier, guess that's why we aren't seeing as many ppl on here!

Yay for Xmas Carols!

How gorgeous Brian, a 5 month old boy or girl? My grandchildren are either in Bendigo or Townsville and I am in SA. I am still hopeful my other son will get married one day and then I would may a grandchild/grandchildren in SA

5 month old ball of fun!

Postby BrianC on Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:59 pm

Our 5 month old is a little boy named William James!

Just about the most interesting thing on the planet (not that I am biased in any way) and already a fan of band music! (guess he heard it for 9 months while in my trumpet playing wife's womb!)

Just stick him in a bandroom with 30-40 musicians, a pair of earmuffs and wrapped in his pram and he'll be asleep in minutes - if the band stops for too long though, he'll get cranky!

Funny little guy! :D

Just got back from a 2 hour gig with our trad jazz band - he slept through the whole thing!

Jeez mate - u didnt muck around getting on the forum after the gig!

Gotta agree though. Its funny when we stop for more than a couple of mins William starts to stir until the band starts rehearsing again!

He sounds wonderful Brian. And I bet you enjoyed Father's Day!!! Blessings on your little man for the happiest and healthiest life.
My youngest son (the one who is very musical) was subjected to music before he was born and right through childhood and it is one of my greatest thrills that he is achieving so much.

I hope you keep me updated on the progress of William James.

Yeah, well he seems most happy when he is in amongst the bandies! (We even took him to State in September, he sat with Grandma in the audience while Mum and Dad were on stage! - he was all of 12 weeks old at that time! :D ). Still can't believe we were mad enough to do that! :?

Now it will be on to see whether he is a brass or woodwind player - then again he might decide neither and go for the drums! (or strings )

anyway, it will be fun ride finding out!

Hey, I went to the Con in Newcastle with a guy who was teaching trumpet in Port Macquarie. He may still be teaching there, might be able to give your lad a few lessons Brian

Seems I have been too busy to post lately. Might have to start the Christmas Carol topic.
