Australian Concert Bands

Well no one else has done this so i will make a start!

This is just an Update i will keep on my musical life!

Well its the start of 2008 and its looking to be a very big year, Very soon i will be going to the National Band Championships in Brisbane with Parramatta City Band. The practices have been fun but i am finding it hard to put in personal practice time at home because i am enjoying the uni holidays to much!

It only feels like yesterday i was in high school and now i am starting my 3rd year in my Music Degree! thats kinda freaky for those who new me in high school, School was not my thing, could not stand it and now i am still studding!

The other major part in my music life is teaching music! Since 2004 and have done teaching in school band programs, back then it was only 2 hours a week and now its 3 growing school bands with each school having 30+ in each band!

As you can see music is a major part of my life and i love it, It all goes back to my local community band with i was around 8 who gave me some free lesions that got me started.

So i suppose il try and do the hole blogy thing and keep you all updated on whats going on in my musical world!

Well its update time!

I am back at uni now witch is good, doing 4 subjects in my bachelor of music course (3rd year YAY!) Con Arts, (Yawn) Music and Analysis, Music Performance and Composition. A few big assignments but so far everything under control with that!

This time next week I will be flying to Bris-vagus With Parramatta city band for Nats! Kinda pumped about that, but at the same time I am over cornet playing…I miss my trumpet!

I was going to ask your guys views on this uni task coming up. I am not sure of the right terms for it but I will try and explain it. I have to turn my trumpet as an electronic instrument. What I was wondering if anyone knows dose it work to mic up a trumpet and run it through guitar effects pedals? Has anyone seen it done before? Very much out of my league but I am keen to find out more about it.

Ive never heard of anyone running a trumpet thru guitar effect pedals. Any chance you can cheat and use a keyboard with a trumpet voice?!

Ill ask a couple of people at band to see if they have any ideas. What sort of sound are you after? Is it something you can record naturally, then mix it up with effects on a pc, or do u need to be able to change the effect whilst playing?

Well i am after any sound really. keen to try new things. I am having a play with some stuff at uni next week. Im thinking about just recording my self...then loop it then run through effects...il let u know how that goes.

Well well well.....Not much has been going on really. Just getting set for State Contest both Brass band and Concert Band.

We have Mountains Youth Band Camp next weekend in lead up to States for them...thats about it!
