2008 TEST MUSIC

The following Test Piece selections have been released this morning (9th February) by Geoff Moore Secretary, BANSW on behalf of the Management Committee.]]

In releasing them Geoff thanked the Music Sub-committee: Ross Griffiths (Chair), Jeff Markham, Brian McGuiness, James Brice and Sandy Robertson for all of the hard work involved. Geoff also pointed out that the recommendations were endorsed at last night's meeting of the Management Committee.

1) CONCERT BAND TEST PIECES
SENIOR CONCERT P= Publisher

Percussion Instruments Test pieces to be announced 22nd February 2008 but will
include workshops

Note for Tuba Players:
- EEb & F Tubas may enter the EEb Section.
- BBb & C Tubas may enter the BBb Section
- Concert Tuba Section (Bass Clef)::Appropriate instrument to be selected for the requirements of the solo
Tuba Players can enter only one tuba section per band registration.
If a player is registered with a Concert and Brass Band then that player can perform
in two section categories.

A few years ago I played in the NSW state with The Hills Academy Band at Penrith and they are a B Grade band and they played Appalachian as their own choice. I remember it does have a few quirks in it so it should be challenging for C Grade. I hope to see Port band in Sydney next year for the Nationals Ben playing this and you never know, I may even be playing against you. Who knows?

Appalachian Overture - What a top song! Sounds amazing on that recording. should be tops to see the C grade bands play it!
