Hi Everyone,
South Pacific has been busy in recent weeks. We just came back from our annual pilgrimage to Gilgandra over the long weekend for the coo-ee festival. The weather was great this year, not too hot. The bus trip was HEAPS of fun - and it didn't break down this time!!
We led the 2 km long street march on the Saturday which was followed by free food and then a concert in the park. For the concert we were joined by the local Gilgandra town band. They are only small in numbers but are fantastic folks and really enjoy us coming up and joining forces with them. In August some members of our band went up to Gilgangra to run a workshop with the Gilgandra people on the music we were playing last weekend.
On the Sunday we performed for the folk at the local nursing home and on the Monday did a concert at the RSL club (and we all even got to watch the footy on the Sunday night).
The week before the Gilgandra trip we did a combined Concert with Yagoona Band which was a great success and great for both the bands.
For those of you who don't know, Gilgandra is a small town near Dubbo, out West. Country bands often struggle for numbers but it is great to see such a small town trying to keep a band alive in the community and we really enjoy going up and supporting them.
