It's a bit rude, I was aked to play with three concert bands but I had to knock them all back because the %$%^# brass band marching is on the same day

Just looking at the schedule for the day

On the Saturday the Concert Bands are playing

Get this -

in Hall one starting at 8:30am are the Open C Grade Concert Bands

in Hall two starting at 9:00am are the Open B and A Grade Concert Bands

So they have both C and B/A grades on at the same time!!!

To bad if your permitting from one to another...u wanna have your running shoes on!!!

I actually should have played in the concert bands rather than marching at that bloody Easter Show

WSR were bumped to C grade at the request of their leadership because they were the only competitor in D.

Damn! I was supposed to be playing in all 3 grades. I guess I'll have to miss one of them.

Oh, scheduling dramas again!

Too bad if you play in both brass and concert bands! Or if you play in C Grade and A/B grade concertI I would have liked to have seen the march as it is always a good (albeit sometimes amusing) event!

I can already foresee dramas like what happened with Kew Band in Brisbane - A grade brass test event started 30minutes late because percussionists were permitted in a band in B Grade contest on at the same time and Kew couldn't start. I hope that doesn't happen with the concert bands.

In any case, I'm looking forward to catching some of the concert bands in the B and A grade concert after we play. :)

Ill tell you the other band from SA is playing (attempting) an A Grade piece and they're in B grade so we'll see how they go with that!. Our band is doing a classic and its been great fun learning it. Wasn't sure if I wanted to spill the beans and tell everyone what were playing but it was worth a try. So i'll tell if you tell hehehe :D
