Postby steamroller60 on Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:34 am

Hey guys

NWWE recorded a CD over Easter and it's finally come out!
We're having a launch concert on the 16th of October at Shore Grammar School in North Sydney.

It is going to be ACE.

Tracks on the CD:
Festive Overture - Shostakovich
Land of Perpetual Ice - Butcher (07 national A grade concert test piece)
Irish Tune - Grainger
Dance Movements - Sparke
Lads of Wamphray - Grainger
Yiddish Dances - Gorb
Wild Nights! - Ticheli

nwwe.org will soon be set up so you can order your copy directly from the band. One of us will let everyone know as soon as that's ready.

In the meantime, check out this teaser video:

Don't forget you can also get your copy of the CD at the launch concert!

If you want to sell that CD to the select few concert band people that like that kind of stuff, well and good but if you made that recording to sell to the general public, forget it.. Sorry but that's how it is and I have the experience behind me to know what I am talking about... If anyone wants to argue the point with me I would be happy to oblige them..

Well, it is being advertised on a concert band forum... :D
The CD is being mainly targetted at wind band specific sites all over the world. There may not be a big calling for it amongst the plebs in this country, but there are bigger wind band movements elsewhere.

Matt, I'm not knocking what's on the CD, I'm sure it's all good music but that music is for a particular type of person and that person is the dedicated concert band person who likes that style of music. My previous job was entertaining the general public, the normal people who buy band music and want to be entertained, not plebs, but normal people and for me, that won't sell to them. No offence. Once again, James is a good friend of mine and I'm sure it's good music and well played. If it goes to number one on the hit parade I will be the first to eat my words.

Got it today!

Am listening to it now. Just at the end of Festive Overture. Very nice piece and extremely well played! If the rest of the CD is as good as the first track, it was a bl00dy great buy!!!
