Welcome mate! No matter if your not a bandsman! We have a few members who dont actually play in bands, but are very dedicated in their support of bands and banding!

Do they many concert bands in that part of the UK, or are they mainly brass bands?

Yes we do have quite a few.To name a few grimethorpe colliery band, black dyke band .hammonds sauce band(not 100%true title but it belongs to a sauce producer ).Ther are alot of police bands and fireservice bands and still a few mill bands around :)

Arent they brass bands? That would be awesome having Grimethorpe in the vicinity! In years gone by, nearly every organistion seemed to have their own band!

Yes all brass bands there is also the british ropes band down the road at doncaster ||.The pickle factory had a band ip to a few years ago ||

Wasnt there a shoe company band at one stage? i remember reading all the mills and collierys all had bands. Brighouse and Rastrick were a shoe company was it? or Black Dyke?

I think it was called cottingham .I dont think it was very fasmous it ran for about 20 to 30 years and wound up in the early 90,s
