Entertainment Contest in SA

Postby jubey on Thu Sep 20, 2007 3:01 pm

This weekend, the Unley Concert Band will be hosting an entertainment contest for some concert bands that are members of the SA Band Association. This event is part of the Unley Concert Band's 10th Anniversary celebrations.

The Contest will be at the Unley Town Hall, Oxford Tce Unley. Commencing at 1:00, bands playing are:

- Henley and Grange Concert Band (Mike Noyce)
- Tea Tree Gully Redbacks (David Gardiner)
- Onkaparinga Concert Band (Craig Wingrave)
- Unley Concert Band (Kevin Cameron)

Should be interesting to see who comes out on top. Bill Broughton is the adjudicator.

The Unley Concert Band, directed by Kevin Cameron, has capped off its 10th Anniversary Celebrations this weekend by winning the SA Band Association's Entertainment Contest for Concert Bands.

Adjudicator Bill Broughton placed Unley ahead of Onkaparinga Concert Band (Craig Wingrave), Henley and Grange Concert Band (Mike Noyce), and the Tea Tree Gully Redbacks (David Gardiner).

Unley played a wide and varied selection of music, featuring soloists Sarah Butler (Flugel Horn), Evan Bassani (Alto Saxophone), Nicole Molloy (Clarinet), and Alex Gordon (Vocals).

"This is a great win for Unley against bands of good quality and reputation, and we were very pleased that they joined us in celebrating our 10th Anniversary. We look forward to an exciting future of concerts and contesting as we continue to build our reputation," said Unley's Music Director Kevin Cameron.
