Australian Concert Bands

Can anyone tell me just who the "Mark" was who was chatting with Macca this morning about Bands in the community, and also about Concert Bands and School Bands. I found the views of this guest to be extremely interesting and very productive.

He believes that the thought "they are just kids we can't expect a high standard of playing" is a fallacy. He and Macca were also discussing the fact that Community Bands are only thought of for Anzac Day etc and that they have so much more potential. I missed a lot of the early discussion owing to waking up late after a late night. I wish I had heard more. Will check the ABC website tomorrow for the upload of today's program.

Go to abc.net.au/radio click on Australia All Over, then "listen to last weeks show". The discussion I heard is in the 9 am to 10 am segment and starts at approximately 4 min 13 seconds from the start and concludes at 14 min 20 seconds. Yes there is a "bit of waffle" but to me it is a very positive discussion regarding music for children and adults, especially in country towns.
