2009 National Parade of Bands

Postby EEbTubaGuy on Wed Apr 09, 2008 12:29 pm

Just to let you know I believe that a free entry pass to the Royal easter Show will be given to members of bands who participate in the parade of bands. I also believe it it planned to have a massed band performance in the main arena at the show. Lets hope that we can get some representatino form concert bands. It amy be difficult as I think the Concert Bands competiton starts on Saturday afternoon.

Is there any comment about the venue (The Seymour Centre) selected for the 09 Nats?

"Sorry for my seniors moment?' You are giving your age away EEb Tubist.

I assume the concert bands will not be marching? Also with the brass bands, will kazoos be allowed? Variety is the spice of life you know...

Concert bands are certainly invited to enjoy the parade of bands. I believe the concert bands will start their comp in the afternoon.

I think I may need to change my tage to EEb Tuba Senior Citizen

I think it's a bit rough that the parade is on the same day as the concert band contest. Once again the NBCA/BANSW shows its disregard for anything to do with wind bands.
Sure - we're invited to participate but who will? Homebush (Easter Show venue) isn't exactly close to the city and it's extremely unlikely that things will run to time...

I agree! i wasnt too happy when i saw that the Parade of Bands was on at the same time as the Concert Band Championships. Bit of an oversight it think....

Too bad if you play with both Brass and Concert Bands..........

I know of a concert band that participated in a Parade of Bands at the Nationals a few years ago - 60+ players, well rehearsed and drilled, and with an excellent drum major in charge. Quite a good show I was told.

This band was the ONLY concert band to march.

No mention in the programme, no points, no critique, no result, no trophy...nothing...

Is it any wonder that concert bands just don't bother?

You can argue all you like and the Band Association can protest, but these contests are still aimed toward brass bands primarily.
